Mickey & Minnie

So I just came back from a visit to my aunt's and I thought I'd show off the nails I did just for the trip. That whole family loves Mickey Mouse and Disney, so I decided to do Mickey and Minnie themed nails. I'm pretty happy with them but the Minnie nail didn't turn out the way I wanted, oh well.

Wow, Fantastic Baby!

Okay so for today's design I chose to do another Kpop post: Big Bang's "Fantastic Baby". Now I know this is kind of late seeing as the song came out way back in March but I had a lot of other designs planned and I admit I have a slight tendency to do the newest design I've thought of instead of going back to old drawings. Nevertheless, I have done the nails and I am loving them! They make me want to put "Fantastic Baby" on repeat again.

So in order starting at the thumb: The traditional Korean lions, G-Dragon's throne, "Stop Music" sign, G-Dragon's suit and hair, T.O.P's suit. (Took forever to get the lions' faces)

I Do Not Like Green Eggs and Ham...

Yup you guessed it, today's nails are inspired by Dr. Seuss' "Green Eggs and Ham". I remember reading this as a kid and it was always my favourite story by him so I've decided to pay homage to this classic. I've chosen to used the iconic character, Sam I Am, and his extendable hand because that's the most memorable part of the story for me.

Kpop: 2NE1 "I Love You"

For today's design I have taken inspiration from 2NE1's new music video "I Love You". Every girl has amazing nails but unfortunately, I don't have the tools to recreate the other designs. I technically couldn't do Minzy's either because she has acrylic pearlescent flowers but I got pretty close because they were just too pretty. I just substituted the pearlescent flowers with white flowers.

Welcome Back With "Haus of Gaga"

I'm back! Sorry I have been away for so long, between exams, final projects and applying for universities, I have had no time to update the blog. I feel so bad that I have been away for almost four months. Good news though, I'm back and since it's summer, I am free (For two months). So to kick off my return, I'm gonna post my Gaga nails! I felt inspired by all of her crazy outfits and wanted to pay tribute to her.

I took inspiration from her "Poker Face" nails, "Telephone" outfit, meat dress, "Judas" album art and her infamous disco stick.

Again I am so sorry for the long wait but I am back and will try and post every few days.

Our Solar System Nails

Hi! Today's nails are: Space! There was another Instasgram contest and the theme was space. I didn't want to do the typical Galaxy nails that were already flooding the entry page so I decided to do our Solar System instead. Unfortunately, I couldn't put Pluto as it is no longer a planet (it still is in my heart).

And yes, Uranus does have a ring, it's just really really small.

Anime Nails: Fairy Tail

Sorry for no post on Sunday, I had a pretty hectic weekend (too much homework!). Anyways, I made another themed design but instead of Kpop or Jpop, it's Anime themed! More specifically, Fairy Tail. This show is great! For any anime fans out there I definately recommend this show. It's a magic-based anime about a young wizard, Lucy, who uses keys to summon spirits to fight bad guys. Along with Natsu, a fire wizard, Grey, an ice wizard, and Erza, a wizard with the ability to summon any weapon/armour, she fights bad guys and saves the world. And before you think it's a really girly show it actually isn't. There's some light adult humor and quite a bit of fighting. It's made by FUNimation so if you guys want to check it out, they have all of the episodes (both sub & dub) on their youtube page (located here). Enough of that, on to the nails!

The index finger is one of Lucy's keys, specifically Taurus (yes they're Zodiac keys). The middle finger is the official Fairy Tail symbol. The ring finger is the character Happy, a flying, talking cat. The pinky is the pattern of the scarf that Natsu always wears.

Dotted Tips

Sorry that I couldn't really post too much this week or last. I've had a pile of homework and I'm in the middle of working out plans to join Ultimate Frisbee (yes it's actually a sport). So anyways, I had a bit of time last night to do a quick new design. I thought that this was so cute and super easy to do.

Alice In Wonderland Nails

Hooray! There's another contest on instagram and the theme for this one is: movies! I was so excited when I saw this because I had a great excuse to finally do these Alice In Wonderland nails. This is one of my favourite movies and I was so happy doing these nails. I'm especially proud of the caterpillar on my left index finger, he was hard to do but totally worth it.

Easter Nails & Plaid

Sorry for the late post, I had to go visit family for the Easter weekend and I didn't get a chance to post anything. So to make up for my absence, two designs!

First up: Easter Nails. I didn't have a whole lot of time to do these so I just did a simple scene with eggs and little chicks (I know, they look awkward).

YTF Pride Nails!

So I was on Instagram and I found out that YTF (Ryan Higa, KevJuma, Chester See, Andrew Garcia, JR Aquino, Victor King and D-Trix) has an account just for fan pics. When I looked at some of the pictures there were nail designs but...let's just say most just used a marker. So I've decided to show MY YTF pride and what better way than with a nail design (since that's all I can do). Unfortunately, JR's name was really hard to write so his name is a bit squished.

Feather Nails

Hey! So there's two reasons for this design. One: I had an Aboriginal Studies Test today and I thought it would give me a boost of luck. Two: There's a contest on Instagram and the theme is nature. I instantly thought of feathers when I saw nature so yeah. I might do something else though, I still have time to decide.

I've been wanting to do Jpop designs too but the videos that I've seen don't seem to stand out as much to me. I don't know why but Kpop just seems to have more focal points in videos whereas Jpop seems to have more stories and dance scenes (which is not bad at all). So when I found this video a couple of months ago I knew this would be the inspiration for my first Jpop nails.

Dotted Tips

Okay so I didn't have a lot of time to do a design but I really didn't want to be walking around with St. Patrick's Day nails for very long. I found this design online but originally it was just on the tips and there was only a silver line at the end. I ddin't feel like doing tips so I chose to paint my entire nail silver.

Spring Roses

So my sister decided to come over for a visit and I thought it would be a great idea to do our nails! She told me I could do any design so I chose this rose design with a yellow base because it was classy yet perfect for spring.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Even though I'm not big on this holiday I wanted to do a themed design anyways. I thought it would be simple and easy because I'm only keeping them on for today then I'm doing another design tomorrow.

Kpop: Miss A "Touch"

Guess what today's design is! That's right, it's Miss A's "Touch". I tried SO hard to get a design from the actual video but I only got a clear shot of one (the ring finger: Fei). Unfortunately the pinky didn't show through enough (it's supposed to be a rose). I'm really happy with my index and middle. This is the first time that I have been able to make a lace design that doesn't suck.

Paintballing!

Guess where I went last night :) That's right, paintballing! My friend had a birthday party at the paintball arena and so I HAD to take the opportunity to do a paint splatter/paintball design. You can't see in the picture too well but I actually put some darker spots at the top of each splatter so that it looked like pieces of a paintball shell.

The Phantom of the Opera

Well, my class planned a trip to a local theater to see "The Phantom of the Opera" and I decided to theme my nails. Sorry that the ring finger on the first hand is kind of dark, it dried darker that the bottle.

Here's my newest Kpop nails! They were inspired by Big Bang's "Blue" music video and concept photos. I was inspired as soon as I saw the album cover (thumb) and I had such an urge to do a design. Overall, I have to say that I'm not too happy with the design. I only really like the outcome of the thumb and pinky, the middle finger doesn't look anything like I had hoped but oh well. (If you can't tell, the middle finger is the bridge and roller coaster seen throughout the video and the pinky is Tayang's bandana)

Multicultural Nails

So I WAS planning on doing some more Kpop nails, but I realized to day that I have the perfect opportunity to do the flag nails that I've been wanting to do. My school is doing a Multicultural Night and I thought I would check it out and support my friends who organized it. Because of this I just couldn't resist doing some themed nails. In order from thumb to pinky: England, China, Jamaica, Switzerland. The "RS" is my school name.

Cherry Blossom Branches

Okay, this is the first time I'm exposing my nails to the world (mostly). The lighting isn't that great but I used my new favour colour, "Sweet Tart" from Revlon. My friend wanted me to do this design and I actually wanted to do this as well so I figured why not?
